Here are some of the procedures that have influenced the development of Wellness Kinesiology.
This system was developed in 1964 by Dr. George Goodheart, a chiropractor from Detroit, Michigan. It uses muscle testing as a means of functional neurological evaluation and is now used by chiropractors, osteopaths, medical doctors, dentists, and others with a license to diagnose.
John Barton began with the foundation of Touch for Health® to start the Biokinesiology Institute in 1972. One major contribution of biokinesiology is how different emotions affect different parts of the body. Positive emotions, nutrition, biokinetic exercises, and massage are used with muscle testing to provide a very holistic way to balance the body.
This term is becoming more popular as the umbrella to cover numerous types of energy-based kinesiological systems (displacing specialized kinesiology). Very light pressure monitors the muscle rather than the firm muscle testing of Applied Kinesiology.
Kinesiology is a non-invasive method using muscle feedback and body awareness that can help you reduce stress and pain; improve performance at school, work, home, in sports, in relationships; and promote health and well-being. The word itself means "the study of movement".
This is based in Applied Kinesiology since it uses manual muscle testing as a fundamental tool to detect and correct an unbalanced system and restore harmony which often reverses the process of disease. It observes the client as a whole organism so uses various techniques to correct imbalances identified and confirmed by the biofeedback of muscle testing. This term is used as an umbrella term for many forms of kinesiology most of which have developed out of Touch for Health®.
Chiropractor, Dr. John Thie, repackaged some Applied Kinesiology and developed it into a more meridian-based system where muscle testing identifies body imbalances and various physical techniques, emotions, sound, color and nutrients are used to restore balance.
Developed by Dr. Wayne Topping, it has its primary roots in Touch for Health® and Biokinesiology. It uses muscle testing and body awareness to identify what is unduly stressing the system and uses emotional stress release, meridian tapping, temporal tapping, brain integration, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), nutrition, and physical corrections to help bring the mind and body to a state of wellness. As of May, 2004 Wellness Kinesiology consisted of 17 workshops covering the emotional, nutritional and structural realms. Dr. Topping has taught in 22 countries and has trained instructors in 14 countries.
